Less Screen Time Equals More Me Time

Once a year, First Choice Martial Arts offers its Screen-Free Weekend challenge during the month of November. If you're not familiar with our S.T.A.R.S. program, let us introduce you to this special incentive system.

Parents of our karate students bring their children here for a variety of reasons, and one of the most common is the character-building attributes that martial arts provide. Being engaged and working toward long-term goals is something parents highly value, especially in today’s fast-paced digital world.

The S.T.A.R.S. program is a monthly initiative where students can earn a badge to place on their karate uniform. Each month, we post challenges on our website, accessible to all FCMA students and their families. These challenges focus on themes like discipline, confidence, or respect and when students complete the activity, they’re encouraged to bring it to the school, where an instructor presents them with a star in front of their classmates.

This program motivates students to focus on the non-physical aspects of karate which is just as important as learning the techniques we teach in class. This is a big reason why we offer the monthly S.T.A.R.S. program and encourage students to participate in the monthly challenge.

If you haven’t had the chance to participate yet, this is the perfect opportunity to try out our Screen-Free Weekend and get started. Although, this may be a tougher challenge than some we know you can do it and we look forward to hearing how you spent your time in more productive ways.

Take it the next level and complete a new task, do a chore, or even develop a new skill but most importantly notice how it positively impacts you and those around you.

So, good luck, and remember less screen time equals more me time!
