Kicking off 2025
As we enter the second week of January, it’s inspiring to see the motivation and determination of our students returning with full force. We’re incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated students and families who create a positive and supportive environment at the school each week.
As I write this morning, it’s early on a cold Saturday, and we have 10 Little Dragons here eager, focused, and giving their very best. Think about what it takes for these young students and their families to get to class on a winter morning. It’s clear these kids are driven, and their commitment is nothing short of admirable.
The habits and memories these children build in 2025 will stay with them forever. Years from now, when they reflect on their time here, I’m confident they’ll recall it fondly—not just the lessons they learned but the positive impact they had on themselves, their peers, and the community. Who knows? Perhaps they may be helping students just like themselves someday or even teaching classes as future instructors.
It’s a humbling thought. Watching today’s Little Dragons reminds me of how far some of our instructors have come. Sensei Grace, Sensei Josh, and Sensei Matthew all started at this young age, just like these students. I vividly remember Sensei Grace performing her Little Dragon forms for the first time—not too many years ago. Now, here she is, on the dojo floor, giving back and helping the next generation gain the same benefits martial arts has provided her.
It’s an emotional and heartwarming reminder of the lasting impact martial arts can have. These instructors' journeys from white belt to role models are a testament to how martial arts shape character, build confidence, and inspire leadership.
As we begin this new year, let’s take a moment to reflect—not just on how far we’ve come but on where we’re headed. Martial arts have the power to impact our lives far beyond the dojo, shaping who we are and how we approach life, so let’s give it all our effort for a better 2025.
And, in a month make an appointment with yourself to review if you are on track to where you are going because it’s on you to stay motivated through reflection, adjustment, and commitment!
